Botox and Dysport

The relentless autographs of aging, gravity, time, stress and exposure to the elements eventually affect us all. However, some skin types are at greater risk of developing these unsightly wrinkles sooner rather than later. Fine lines, facial folds and furrows can wreak havoc on an otherwise attractive appearance, triggering self-consciousness and frustration. While genetics play a large role in determining the skin’s longevity, lifestyle choices such as smoking, tanning and diet can also determine how well our bodies mature. Dr. Shabdiz offers Botox and Dysport treatment to his patients in Orange County, CA.

Botox and Dysport are neurotoxins approved by the FDA for combatting the treacherous signs of aging. In use for over years in 75+ countries, they work by reducing activity in the muscles responsible for facial contractions such as smiling, laughing, squinting or frowning. Once these muscles relax, the skin is restored to its once smooth and youthful state, promoting a more rested, rejuvenated countenance that inspires self-confidence and joie de vivre.

BOTOX

Botox treatment is most effective for dynamic wrinkles such as the glabella folds between the eyebrows. The treatment takes around 10 minutes and may not require any downtime or recovery. Results can be visible within around 3-5 days, and may continue to impress for up to 6 months.

THE PROCEDURE

A topical anesthetic or ice may be used to numb the area if necessary, though most of the time the procedure causes little pain and is well tolerated without either. Dr. Shabdiz prefers to inject patients when they are awake and seated upright and interacting with him.

RECOVERY

Post-treatment, patients may experience minor swelling, bleeding, bruising and pain in the treated areas of the skin. The bleeding and swelling will reduce within a few hours and the bruising and pain will take a few days to heal.

Both Botox and Dysport are extremely skin-friendly and do not lead to infections and allergies. Dysport, in particular, generates lesser anti-bodies than Botox, making it extremely safe to use. However, if you have extremely sensitive skin, you may develop acne-like eruptions, but don’t worry. Dr. Shabdiz will prescribe an antibiotic, which will help you recover quickly.

Post-treatment, patients must avoid using their facial muscles extensively for at least 24-48 hours. Recovery takes 2-3 days, after which patients can return to their daily schedule. Both the Botox and Dysport injectable last for a term of 4-6 months, after which you may need to return for another round of treatment.

COST

Both injectables are priced competitively between $300 and $900 per session.
